In an historic deal, the UK is giving sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius. It follows a diplomatic dispute that stretches back fifty years.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said on X that the deal would ‘protect international security, close a potential illegal migration route, and avert threats to peace and prosperity in the Indian Ocean.’

An ecology sacrificed on the altar of political expediency, ideology and limitless greed. The corrupt Indian dominated government of Mauritius will be rubbing their hands with glee. Now the question remains – how to kick out the USA and sell the islands to India ? Mauritius has already sold out Aldabra to allow India to build a military base there. Maurius is now a polluted rock where once dodos, giant tortoises and manatees existed in an unspoiled ecology for thousands of years. Mauritian rivers are the waste channels for non degradeable plastics and the once pristine lagoons have become lifeless cess pits for the dyes of the textile industry.

Dear Ch4. Please tell people the deal was started in 2022 after a Commons vote and Cleverly/Cameron sorted it. Nowt to do with Lab, they had to sign it off due to the 2022 vote and being left it by the tories. Thanks. All easily fact checkable btw!
