It doesn’t help that they use the 4-2-3-1 formation👎🤦‍♂️ The players that UTD have for left & right back need to be wing backs, the 4-2-3-1 is a defensive formation and which allows the opponent to gain yardage so the defensive pressure Consistency rises to at least 15%-25% for the whole game and controlling the back line becomes more difficult due to rise in number of moving parts to reset during a fast break or fast tactical passing from the opponents cause it’s not a natural formation for today’s pace of football. Might as well go back to 4-4-2 tbh. Example Euro finals England first half 3-4-2-1 and baring the fact we had the wrong players on at the beginning of the game I.e Kane instead of Watkins, England dominated the first half, 2nd half Southgate changed players which was a positive but then handcuffed the players by playing the 4-2-3-1 formation and it was an shocking 2nd half.
