the latest episode of the Lowdown sees @LyesBouzidi join Dougie and Michael to debate each big six club’s best signing since 2020-21!

What has been the defining transfer of Arsenal’s rise under Mikel Arteta this decade? Odegaard arrived in 2021, Saliba returned from loan in 2022 and Declan Rice has proved an excellent big money signing too.

Who has been Liverpool’s best signing during an era in which their spine has stayed largely the same? We discuss the impacts of Jota, Konate, Luis Diaz and Mac Allister. And what about Chelsea? Do we need to look back to the success of the Thomas Tuchel era or crown the contribution we’ve seen from Cole Palmer over the last year?

And perhaps our most interesting debate comes with Man United, who have had a patchy transfer record over the last five years to say the least – can anyone be considered a total success at Old Trafford?

  1. Personally Liverpool's best signing since 2020 is between Jota and Konate, Konate is hugely underrated, he was immense in the 21-22 season, and looks back to his best this season.

  2. As a liverpool fan:

    Liverpool – Diogo Jota
Man City – Haaland (but it would be Rodri if 19/20 was included)
    Arsenal – Martin Odegaard
    Chelsea – Cole Palmer
Tottenham – Not many clear options but probably Pedro Porro
Man United – Never rated Martinez but probably has to be him

  3. MacAllister is my choice too. He's a game changer. He has both skill and brains so he's the best.

  4. Luis Diaz is next level

  5. Def the goat for utd… Anthony

  6. Odegaard for 2020s for Arsenal

  7. Ah ffs desperate

  8. For man utd Bruno and Lisandro

  9. Konate for Liverpool

  10. Liverpool supporter here. I really liked your debate and you all made valid arguements. Great shouts from all you three.

I wanna go a bit outside the oppositions box here. I think Caoimhín Kelleher has been sensational ever since he joined as a youth player from Ringmahon. Since he was promoted to our 2nd keeper, he was always there to help, has been phenomenal in cup competitions, nearly never put a foot wrong in the league or Champions League. Given how big Alissons footsteps are and his injury record, this is one hell of an acheivement from our humble number two. In my opinion the best 2nd keeper in our recent history.

And this penalty shootout against Chelsea.

  11. its outrageous that you didnt talk about luiz diaz for liverpool or cody gakpo, for sure theyre over jota but the mac allister is the right pick imo, but i cant fathom not picking maddison for tottenham, he is the heart of the team when he plays, nearly everything flows through him

  12. Jota to Liverpool is what trossard is to arsenal. The best 12th man who is good enough to be in the 11 but for whatever reason never seems to claim the spot as his own

  13. These idiots are paid by Sky Sports to talk about football and he’s just said winning trophies isn’t everything.

  14. There isn't a big 6 ,spurs shouldn't be in this, arsenal have won nothing .to have spurs in the talk is something I can't get my head round

  15. Only ever talking about the big clubs how boring 🥱

  16. It's Odegaard. So clearly Odegaard. He's Arsenal's best player and doesn't get anywhere near the recognition he deserves.

  17. Is this the new FD YouTube channel 😅

  18. As a Liverpool fan, macalister. Jota is inconsistent af, his link up play is really mid. His finishing is one of the best in the league but his dribbling and playmaking have been so frustrating to watch at times. Macalister has been Mr consistent for us, he’s never had anything below a 7/10 imo since joining and has been the staple in our midfield

  19. It has to be Ødegaard for Arsenal, has to. Saliba has changed the defense, made it impenetrable while Ødegaard has changed the entire team. The attitude, the work rate, the vibe and the whole class of the team is made better because of Martin. He is also Mikel's right hand man on the pitch, he bases so much of the tactics on Ødegaard doing what he does. Just see how, after just a couple of matches without the captain in the starting 11 they have suddenly turned in to "Mourinho park the bus" according to so called experts and rival fans.

  20. Miller David Lewis John Thomas Larry

  21. Best signings in last 5 years:

    Liverpool: Alexis mac Allister
    Man City: Erling Haaland
    Arsenal: Martin Odegaard
    Spurs: Guglielmo Vicario
Man Utd: literally no one 🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Chelsea: Cole Palmer

  22. Same clubs time and time again never spoken about Brighton

  23. Dude MacAllistar was release clause not bargain😂😂😂

  24. Its Brennan Johnson for me. That kid is going to continue scoring. What a talent.

  25. “Picking your clubs”
Proceed to then talk about the big 6 that wanted to go join there own “super league”
    Theres 14 other teams🙃

  26. Saliba has been immense but technically he signed before this decade. So odegaard would have to be my pick.

  27. Liverpool = macca 10

  28. Odegaard

  29. “Premier leagues top six” and includes man United, what a joke 🤣🤣

  30. Finally a god tier Prime Sunday Vibes line up, Lyes is a young Pat regen 🔥

  31. Jota replaced Firmino and Firmino became a squad player because of that? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he's a United fan tho but yeah he's wrong with that. Jota was always a starter until he started getting injuries

  32. Crazy that Man United's best signing this decade has been Jadon Sancho and thats cos of his performances away from United on loans.

  33. Saliba was signed in 2019 so he’s not eligible

  34. Enjoyable video i must say

  35. I would say Jota was lfc main striker last year if it weren't for injuries. They could have challenge for the title all the way if he was fit at the start and towards the end of the season.

  36. From a Chelsea fan, I think Arteta was the best signing. He changed Arsenal. Its kind of like Sir Alex, give him anyone- he will make a decent team. The way he axed Aubameyang, the way he changed the loser culture. Yes Odegaard, Saliba are good, but Arteta has MADE them good.
